Free Clinics Need Donations to Survive

November, 2008

Dear Lake Area Free Clinic Supporter

We are all feeling the stress and anxiety of the current economic crisis.  Imagine that worry compounded by the knowledge that you are unable to afford necessary, basic medical services.  Lacking the funds for these services and without health insurance, the Lake Area Free Clinic patients have all faced this realization. They are among the nearly 50 million Americans that are without health insurance who must make difficult decisions about forgoing care in lieu of basic necessities for their families.

Fortunately, we are in the business of hope at the Clinic.  Hope for these patients and a growing number of members of our community - many who work full-time, but are either not offered health insurance or cannot afford the premiums.  The Clinic provides access to compassionate primary medical care and practical information aimed at prevention provided by a volunteer staff.  In 2008 it is expected the Clinic will care for nearly 2,800 patients.

To meet this growing need, the Clinic is scheduled to move to new, considerably larger facilities in 2009 that will allow us to expand our services and hours of operation.  Now, more than ever, we will rely on the generosity of the community to continue our mission of hope.  Would you please consider a donation to the Clinic at this critical time?

We truly appreciate your consideration of the Clinic in your giving plans this year.  Please send your tax-deductible donation in the enclosed pre-addressed envelope.  We can also accept your secure donation online at our new website, www.lakeareafreeclinic.org.  We are also requesting those of you with e-mail addresses to include them on a piece of paper along with your donation so that we can save money on postage and paper when sending you future updates.

Thank you for your past and continued support of the Lake Area Free Clinic -we couldn't do it without you.  Wishing you the happiest and healthiest of holidays!

Sincerely

Vicki Dallmann-Papke, RN BSN M.Ed COHN-S
