About Us
Since 2001, Lake Area Free Clinic (LAFC) has been providing comprehensive health care to low-income, uninsured residents of Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The Clinic’s mission is to improve the overall health of those in need. Services include acute and chronic care, specialty care, free medication, free transportation, and insurance enrollment assistance.
Before 2017, access to dental care for low-income adults in Waukesha County who had Medicaid or who were uninsured was extremely limited. Only a small number of local dental providers accepted Medicaid, leaving thousands of adults without preventive or restorative dental services. In response to this unmet need, LAFC opened its Dental Clinic in 2017 to ensure that low-income adults have access to essential, high-quality oral health care. Then, in 2025, LAFC expanded access to dental care for those aged 14 years and older.
